Oh, how I hate online ordering.
Well, if it is a trusted company you had business before, it's okay, but if it is your first time ordering from them you may be in trouble like me. I placed an order on July 1st with MountainRoseHerbs.com and paid $10.88 for 3 day FedEx shipping because I have a flight on July 12th to Europe. I've figured that there's plenty of time. I also placed an order with Puritan.com that same day with free shipping and received it 4 days later.
Yesterday, 7 days later on July 7th I get an email with a tracking number from MountainRoseHerbs.com team telling me that my order has been shipped today. I went on to track my package and found out that I should get it (estimated time) on July 14th. Panic attack!
I called MountainRoseHerbs.com right away. After a very long waiting for the phone to be picked up, I was able to explain my situation to a nice lady she said that she was very sorry for the error and connected me to their claims department. I thought that this must be a big company. Nobody in claims dept unfortunately, you leave your number and wait for someone to call you. I did and waited but nobody called. So, I called the lady again and told her that I must receive this package before Monday morning before catching my plane. She promised to help me and took my number.
She called me 20 minutes later and said that it will cost me $126.00 in order to get my package shipped from Eugene, Oregon to Danbury, CT. Gee... 126 bucks? the total of the items I purchased was $42.83... are they nuts or what? I said no way dear. This is your company's fault and not mine but I am not going to pay 3 fold for your error. I just made her clear that I will put this experience to mountainroseherbscom.blogspot.com website, so everyone can read and find out and don't end up like me. She was a very friendly lady though... after, I thanked her for trying to help me, I kindly hang up the phone and went to our local vitamin shop.
What we should learn from this?
This and other supplement companies make millions if not thousands of bucks and incompetent to fix their errors. I was a seller myself at Amazon.com, I was a little seller but I acted big and generous when a customer asked to receive his stuff ASAP, I jumped in my car and did next day shipping without a second thought. US Postal service is very reasonable and the best for that but these folks must use FedEx or UPS for some reason. They want you to pay more, so they have more. Luckily not all companies are like that.
I surely will never order anything from Mountain Rose Herbs again.

Healthy Living to you all
I'm sorry you had a bad experience with them. However, compared to other sites (especially the puritan one you mention above) the prices on MRH.com are incomparable! All of the quanities being sold on Puritan.com are SO much smaller than MRH.com. It's ml on Puritan and oz on MRH. If you bought the same quantity on Puritan that you do on MRH, Puritan would be exponentially more expensive! Watch out for that next time you place an order. Even taking the shipping MRH charges into account, the prices still are very hard to beat. Please don't let that one experience deter you from doing more ordering with them in the future. Maybe if you call and ask to speak to a manager and tell them your experience and how that one experience soured you on their company, they might be willing to offer you something for your trouble like a gift certificate, free shipping on your next order or maybe even a complimentary item. You never know....it's worth a try :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you haven't dealt with places lime MRH before. They are smaller, but they get a ton of orders and it usually takes them a while to ship out. Their prices, and the quality of their products ate incompatible. I order a lot of their teas, and I can't find anything like some of their teas from anywhere else.

ReplyDeleteShipping time =\= delivery time. This was my biggest frustration when I had to deal with customers in supply chain. You ordered on a Thursday. If you ordered late enough your order wasn't even processed until Friday. If they shipped on Wednesday that means it took 4 business days (weekends are not business days), and they say it typically takes 2-3 days. That is not a 100% garuntee.
